2009: wait a minute – Macondo

CoExistence in Macondo
Macondo is a place full of fantasy… in Gabriel Garcia Marquez book „A Hundred Years of Solitude“.
Chilean refugees gave the name to this part of the outskirt of Vienna.

Photo-workshop from 11. 09 2009 – 20. 09. 09
The photographer Yuval Tebol, TelAviv, the videoartist Sini Coreth, Austria and the children of Macondo, Vienna, are exploring in a photoworkshop the cultural diversity in the daily life of Macondo, which is an example for a peaceful Coexistence between peoples with different cultural backgrounds. The female photographer Eman Mohammed, from Gaza, participates in this project with her photos of the children from a place, where the fight for survival has no time to think about hope for CoExistence.

Our goal is to open up the horizon of the participant children of Macondo, by learning them how to use a photocamera. They become a photoproducer themself and are not anymore a motif/subject due to social, political and economic reasons.

Exhibition, Sunday, the 20th of September 2009
in Macondo, Vienna. Around the container
The best photos of the participants will be part, together with the photos of the artists, of the multimedia-videoshow, which is a cooperation between Sini Coreth and Yuval Tebol. The Multimediashow will be projected on the outer surface of the container during the opening.
